FocusNoise is provided free of charge for personal use. No account is required and no payment is taken. You may use it as much as you like, on as many devices as you like, and you may link to any page on it.
You may not resell access to it, present it as your own product, or automate requests in a way that degrades the service for other people.
The colour noises and binaural tones are generated by your own browser at the moment you play them. They are not recordings we distribute and we make no ownership claim over the output — use it however you wish, including in your own work.
The ambient recordings are a different matter and are licensed for playback on this site. Ask before using them in a commercial project.
Set the volume to the lowest level that does the job, particularly on headphones and particularly for long sessions. Sustained loud audio can damage hearing, and nothing on this site needs to be loud to work.
The content here is general information, not medical advice. If you have epilepsy or any condition affected by rhythmic stimulation, speak to a doctor before using binaural beats. If you have persistent difficulty with sleep, concentration or tinnitus, that is a conversation for a clinician rather than a browser tab.
The site is provided as is. It may be unavailable, may change, and may lose features without notice. It relies on browser audio behaviour that varies between devices and versions, so playback in the background, on a locked phone, or over long unattended periods cannot be guaranteed.
To the extent permitted by law, no liability is accepted for any loss arising from use of the site — including a timer that did not fire when you expected it to. For anything that genuinely matters, use an alarm designed for the job.
These terms may be updated as the site changes. Continuing to use it after a change means accepting the current version. See also the privacy policy.
Yes. The colour noises and binaural tones are synthesised by your browser at playback time — they are not files we distribute and we claim nothing over the output. The ambient recordings are licensed for playback here; ask before using those commercially.
At a sensible level, yes. Keep it comfortably below conversational volume, especially on headphones, and take breaks. Nothing on the site needs to be loud to do its job.
No. Browsers throttle background tabs and suspend audio on locked phones, so the countdown is best-effort. For anything that genuinely matters, use a dedicated alarm.
