Choose a preset and the countdown begins; the ring around the display fills as it runs, and the same number appears in the player bar so you can see it from anywhere in the app. If audio is playing, it stops when the timer reaches zero — a behaviour you can turn off in Settings if you would rather it continued.
Starting any sound also starts the timer automatically, which means the common case takes one click: pick a background, and the block is already running.
Each duration below opens the timer already set, so you can bookmark the one you use and skip the setup entirely.
The ∞ preset counts up instead of down, which is the setting for open-ended sessions where you want to know how long you have been at it without a deadline hanging over the work. Nothing stops on its own in this mode.
For repeating cycles with breaks built in, the Pomodoro timer is the better tool — it handles four focus rounds, the breaks between them and the long break at the end, and switches the background sound at each phase change.
The countdown does. Audio may be suspended by the browser when a tab is not visible, especially on phones, so keep the tab in view if you want the sound to continue.
Yes. The countdown and playback are independent — start the timer and leave the sound library alone.
Playback stops by default. You can disable that under Settings, and the Pomodoro timer plays a chime at each phase change if you want an audible signal.
